SCC | NewsML Module

The SCC MediaServer NewsML module provides tight integration with editorial systems capable of exporting media packages in NewsML data exchange format.

The NewsML module provides a user friendly and highly configurable interface to the otherwise complex NewsML export data.

Each NewsML header within the export package describes the inner relationship of each media item to other related media elements appearing in the same article in addition to describing the relationship of each article to the parent publication.

Specifically, the NewsML headers describe exactly which photo ran with a particular graphic, and story and caption element, as well as providing publication details such as the edition, section and page(s) across which the article spanned.

Automated Operation
Once configured, the SCC module performs all necessary data extraction and conversion, record insertion, auto-enhancement, and record linking in order to automatically and completely produce an enriched archive of all publication elements generated within the editorial system.

Advanced Client Functionality
The SCC MediaServer NewsML module provides advanced features to the SCC MediaGrid and Web browser user.

Link icons are displayed beneath or to the side of each archived photo, graphic, story and page, and when clicked automatically returns all related article elements to the screen.

In the case of CCI NewsML data, spatial geometry is also recorded in the MediaServer database which describes the exact position of every article appearing on a page. When an SCC MediaGrid user moves the mouse over the page preview, the article shape appearing under the mouse is highlighted and when clicked retrieves all elements related to that article to the screen.
