The
Providence Journal purchases SCC NewsML module for automated archiving
from CCI editorial system. ALPHARETTA, GA., (February 1, 2006) -- The Software Construction Company (SCC) is pleased to announce the sale of their SCC MediaServer NewsML module to The Providence Journal, (circ. 168k [m-sat], 236k [sun]). The SCC MediaServer NewsML module provides tight integration with CCI editorial systems equipped with CCI's NewsML export engine. Complete packages of published articles containing photo, graphic, text and page elements together with respective NewsML headers are exported automatically each day by CCI's NewsML export engine. Each NewsML header describes the inner relationship of every media item to other media elements appearing in the same article as well as the relationship of each article to the parent publication. For example, the header describes which photo ran with which graphic, text and caption element, as well as publication details such as edition, section and pages across which the article spanned. The SCC MediaServer NewsML module provides a user friendly and highly configurable interface to the CCI NewsML export data. Once configured the SCC module performs all necessary data extraction and conversion, record insertion, auto-enhancement, and record linking automatically and completely in order to produce an enriched archive of all publication elements generated within the CCI editorial system. The SCC MediaServer NewsML
module provides advanced features to the SCC MediaGrid and Web browser
user. Link icons are displayed beneath or to the side of each archived
photo, graphic, story and page, and when clicked automatically return
all related article elements to the screen. In addition, spatial geometry
is recorded in the MediaServer database for every article so that
when an SCC MediaGrid user moves the mouse over full page previews,
the article shape appearing under the mouse is highlighted and when
clicked retrieves all elements related to that article to the screen. About SCC SCC
is based in Atlanta, Georgia and develops and markets
a suite of Macintosh and Windows media management tools
and utilities world-wide. SCC’s products are
used by newspapers, magazines, TV networks, photo agencies,
Internet content providers and various corporations.
