News & Media (Australia) selects SCC MediaServer for central multimedia
archives ALPHARETTA, GA., (September 29, 2006) -- The Software Construction Company (SCC) is pleased to announce the sale of a second SCC MediaServer multimedia content management system to APN News & Media, publishers of 23 daily and more than 100 non-daily newspapers across Australia and New Zealand. The new SCC MediaServer installation will be located in Australia, while the existing system is located in New Zealand. The SCC MediaServer system will serve as the newspapers central assignment system and photo desk for wire and staff photos, as well as an archive of photos, graphics, text articles and complete newspaper pages stored in Acrobat PDF format. The system will provide client access to both SCC MediaGrid and Web Browser users on Windows and Macintosh OSX workstations and will be tightly integrated with a CCI editorial system. The SCC MediaServer system installation includes the following optional modules: The SCC MediaServer NewsML module, which provides bi-directional integration with CCI editorial systems equipped with CCI's NewsML export engine. Complete packages of published articles containing photo, graphic, text and page elements together with respective NewsML headers are exported automatically each day by CCI's NewsML export engine. The SCC MediaServer NewsML module provides a user friendly and highly configurable interface to the exported CCI NewsML data. Once configured the SCC module performs all necessary data extraction and conversion, record insertion, auto-enhancement, and record linking completely automatically in order to produce an enriched archive of all publication elements generated within the CCI editorial system. The SCC MediaServer Delivery Module, which supports automatic reformatting and delivery of files stored within the MediaServer database to a variety of destinations including web sites and online vendors such as NewsBank and Lexis-Nexus. The SCC MediaServer Assignment Module, which provides tools for the creation, editing, tracking and auto-linking of assignments with related photo and graphic objects, within a production workflow.
