The MediaServer Speech to Text Module incorporates
sophisticated speech to text conversion technology licensed from Nuance
Communications Inc.
Full-Text Searchable by Words in Audio Transcript
The module includes the SCC MediaFactory Speech to
Text channel that triggers on every new and changed record within the
SCC MediaServer database associated with a supported audio or
video file type. The Speech to Text channel then uses Nuance technology
to extract and save the text from the audio component.
The speech text is then indexed for searching using either the Autonomy
search engine included with MediaServer Enterprise Edition, or using
the Microsoft Full-Text indexing engine within MediaServer Express Edition.
Within the SCC MediaGrid client application the Speech to Text Module
adds an icon beneath the thumbnail of each audio or video record that
contains speech text data. When the icon is clicked a Speech Player window
opens, displaying the extracted speech text alongside the playback of
the
audio or video file.
Text is Synchronized with Spoken Words
During playback the Speech Player window provides
a
"bouncing ball" display, which is synchronized with each spoken word
in the audio or video file. At any time the user is able to double-click
inside the speech text in order to start or restart the audio or video
playback at that point.
